Scholars at Risk Seminar: Iran

The Role of Women`s Movement in the Democratic Movement in Iran

INCORE cordially invite you to a Scholars at Risk Seminar by Rezvan Moghaddam currently being hosted by Ulster University and Queen's University Belfast.

Date: 28 April 2016

Rezvan Moghaddam is a women's rights activist, researcher and co-founder of the One Million Signature Campaign. She has set up various associations, groups and committees to empower women on issues of peace, environment, health and gender. She has published numerous articles, participated in conferences, seminars and international gatherings, where she has presented papers on women's issues. She is one of the founders of International Campaign Against Violence in Iran (ICAV). Rezvan Moghaddam has a Masters in Mathematics and psychology and is a PhD candidate at FU Berlin in the field of gender studies. She won the Quadriga award in Germany in October 2009 for her peaceful activities as one of the founder of the One Million Signature Campaign. She is also the founder of the campaign against acid attack in 2015. Since 1979 she has been closely involved in the Women's movement in Iran.

The partnership between Universities Ireland and the Scholars at Risk Network provides support to threatened academics around the world, including by arranging temporary placements in Ireland to allow them to safely continue their work. Member institutions of the Section include: Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin, NUI Galway, NUI Maynooth, Queen's University Belfast, University of Ulster, University of Limerick, University College Cork , Dublin City University and the Open University.
