Postgraduate Conference 'Masculinities, Violence and (Post-)Conflict
Thursday, 14 January 2016, Ulster University, Belfast, Northern Ireland
[http://www.incore.ulst.ac.uk/img/Announcements/TJI/TJI.jpg]The Transitional Justice Institute (TJI), the International Conflict Research Institute (INCORE) and the Institute for Research in Social Sciences (IRISS) at Ulster University are hosting a one-day postgraduate conference on 'Masculinities, Violence and (Post-) Conflict' on 14 January 2016 at Ulster University, Belfast Campus in Northern Ireland.
The conference brings together a vast variety of scholars and students working on the intersections between gender, masculinities, violence and (post-)conflict, and includes a diversity of papers with different methodological and theoretical approaches and with divergent empirical foci. The event will offer academic presentations, peer discussion, networking opportunities and expert feedback in a supportive environment.
A keynote speech will be delivered by Dr. Chris Dolan from the Refugee Law Project (RLP) in Uganda, and a concluding presentation will be given by Prof. Brandon Hamber, INCORE, Ulster University. The conference will be concluded by the launch of the book 'Boys, Young Men and Violence: Masculinities, Education and Practice' by Dr. Ken Harland and Prof. Sam McGready (Ulster University).
