INCORE Announcement - 2 April 2015
International Fund for Ireland Research Studentship
The International Fund for Ireland Research Studentship will be awarded to an outstanding PhD student in 2015.
Applications are now invited for the International Fund for Ireland Research studentship in Social Sciences at Ulster University's International Conflict Research Institute (INCORE) and Institute for Research in Social Sciences.
The Research topic proposed must be in some area of peacebuilding in the Northern Ireland and Border Counties with specific reference to the role of funding agencies in this process. We are particularly interested in proposals within the following areas: The impacts of organisations such as the International Fund for Ireland (IFI), e.g. the objectives of the IFI and lessons learned from the Northern Ireland peace process.
Candidates should hold, or expect to hold a first or upper second class honours degree in the Social Sciences or a cognate area. Applications will be considered on a competitive basis with regard to the candidate's qualifications, skills experience and interests. Successful candidates will enroll as of 1 October 2015, on a full-time programme of research studies leading to the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
The studentship will cover all tuition fees and a maintenance award of not less than £13,863 per annum for three years (subject to satisfactory performance). It will be awarded for a period of up to three years subject to satisfactory progress and is tenable in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Magee, Belfast or Jordanstown Campus.
The closing date for receipt of completed applications is 4 May 2015.
Interviews will be held during in late May 2015.
This scheme is open to all students - NI/UK, EU and internationally. People from Northern Ireland and the Border Counties are encouraged to apply.
Only candidates who are new applicants to PhD will be eligible. The International Fund for Ireland Research Studentship will not be available for applicants for any other research degree nor for any candidate who has previously registered on a doctoral programme including MPhil/DPhil, PhD nor anyone who has already obtained a doctorate.
